Juan's story

Portrait of Juan

The culture and work environment are incredible. My colleagues show a strong willingness to teach and help when I need it.

How did you come to find yourself on the Spirax Group Global Graduate Leadership Development Programme (GGLDP)?

I learned about the existence of Spirax Sarco products in the last year of university during an industrial engineering lecture. Our teacher showed us various products for steam management, highlighting the excellence of the brand. Then I saw a post on LinkedIn from an HR consultancy reporting that a search was open for the GGLDP. Upon reading the incredible experience the programme offered, I did not hesitate to apply.

What rotations have you done on the scheme so far and how has each benefited your development?

I have just completed my first rotation in the Quality area. This experience has given me a great advantage to get into the Supply area and to learn about the products made in the Argentinian factory and understand more about how it works.

What is your current role and what does a typical day look like for you?

I am starting my second rotation in the Projects and Solutions area, developing a project with the Services team. I work in an office made up of four interdependent teams that cooperate with each other daily. Spirax Group’s flexible working allows me to go to the office three or four times a week and the rest of the days I can work from home, which gives me a great balance. In my day-to-day routine I train myself in the use of digital tools (Power BI, Power Automate, Tableau and Excel) and together with my manager and colleagues, I analyse historical data about field services carried out in the past in order to develop indicators and standardise the variety of services offered to clients.

How has the culture in your operating company allowed you to make a difference/impact?

The culture and work environment are incredible. My colleagues show a strong willingness to teach and help when I need it. Personally, I consider this to be something fundamental in your first work experience.

When developing a project, I feel the freedom to apply my ideas and creativity in the development of tasks.

Furthermore, the horizontal style of organisation allows me to talk to senior managers without feeling barriers in between.
