Embedding Sustainable Operations

Reducing our impact on the planet

Building on the progress we have already made, our first area of focus is to further embed sustainability into how we run our operations to deliver stronger performance and reduce our impact on the planet.

We will continue our journey to net zero by reducing emissions and energy use, strengthening environmental performance and focusing on waste and water reduction, supported by a structured Optimise, Manage, Decarbonise approach to energy management.

Alignment to UN SDGs

Prioritising and measuring progress and impact, with a clear set of defined targets

This focus area is underpinned by four defined targets that enable us to prioritise our efforts and measure our progress and impact, these are:

Target Why this is important Our progress to date

Net zero operations (scopes 1 and 2):

by continuing on our journey to reach net zero by 2030, we also aim to achieve a 10% absolute reduction in building energy use compared with 2025.

Reducing emissions and improving energy efficiency, lowers cost and carbon risk and strengthens our resilience, as well as our position as a credible, low-carbon partner for customers. The actions we are taking internally also strengthen the solutions we provide to customers to reduce emissions beyond our own operations.

62%

decrease in scopes 1 and 2 emissions (market-based) since 2019

Decarbonising our value chain:

by increasing our engagement with suppliers we aim to achieve a more than 50% reduction in emissions across our supply chain (scopes 1, 2 and 3) by 2032.

Responsible management of our value chain emissions (scope 3) also forms part of our Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) commitment and keeps us aligned to stakeholder and regulatory expectations and strengthens the resilience and competitiveness of our value chain.

Identified carbon intensive suppliers to reduce emissions

Reducing total waste to landfill:

by putting practical actions in place at our Supply sites, we aim to ensure that their total waste to landfill remains below 5% by 2030.

Reducing waste to landfill lowers cost and environmental impact, supports circular economy goals and helps us to meet tightening waste regulations.

5%

waste to landfill in 2025 against a baseline of 18.7% in 2019

Reducing water use:

by increasing water efficiency, we aim to achieve a 10% reduction in water use across our Supply sites that have high-consumption or that are located in water scarce regions.

Improving water efficiency reduces exposure to cost and scarcity, protects communities and ecosystems, supports reliable operations and strengthens our climate resilience as water stress increases in many regions.

25%

reduction in water consumption since 2019

Continuing to drive our sustainable performance

Our journey to net zero

Since 2021, we have been taking action across our own operations to address climate change and environmental risks through more efficient use of energy, water and raw materials, improved waste management, pollution reduction measures and initiatives to enhance biodiversity.

By investing in local teams and skills, we have rolled out greenhouse gas reduction roadmaps and environmental action plans across our manufacturing facilities, giving colleagues the knowledge and tools to put them into practice to support our net zero, energy, water and waste targets. You can read more about the progress and great results we achieved between 2021 – 2025 here.

From 2026 onwards, through our One Planet Roadmap, we will continue building on the progress we have made, with key actions including the transition from fossil fuels to electricity for providing heat and steam, sourcing renewable electricity, moving to an electric vehicle fleet, and reducing waste sent to landfill.

Embedding Sustainable Operations is such an important part of our refreshed One Planet Roadmap. It reflects our belief that long-term progress depends not only on targets and projects, but on building sustainability into our decisions, processes and behaviours across the business.

Our alignment to global standards

Our near- and long-term net zero targets have been verified and approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), another important step taken on our sustainability journey.

The SBTi is a global collaboration that enables businesses to set ambitious emissions reduction targets in line with the latest climate science and the goals of the Paris Agreement, then verify and validate those targets against science-based criteria.

Spirax Group signed up to the Business Ambition for 1.5°C campaign in 2021 in line with our stated intention to achieve net zero emissions in scopes 1, 2 and 3 by 2050.

ISO 14001 Certification

We continue to increase the number of manufacturing sites certified to ISO 14001. This certification demonstrates that our manufacturing sites operate under a globally recognised environmental management standard.

It provides confidence that environmental risks such as emissions, waste, and resource use are actively identified, controlled, and reduced.

By end of 2025, 22 of our 33 manufacturing sites were ISO 14001 certified.

Water and waste

By focusing on our Supply sites with the highest water use and those in water-scarce regions, we will establish reliable baselines and monitoring, improve process efficiency and scale proven initiatives across these sites to achieve a 10% reduction in water use by 2030, compared to 2025.

By preventing waste at source and improving segregation and reuse, our Supply site teams will identify their main waste streams and take practical steps to reduce scrap, rework and avoidable disposal, while recognising infrastructure constraints and the limited availability of landfill-free waste partners in some locations. We will track waste outcomes consistently and work with our waste partners to keep landfill below 5% of total waste generated by 2030 across all supply sites.

40%

reduction in water intensity since 2019 to 87.9m3 per million pounds of reported revenue

13%

decrease in waste generation compared to 2019 (excluding company acquisitions made in the period)

External recognition that validates progress

Recent external recognition reflects the progress being made through One Planet and the way environmental, social and governance considerations are being embedded into the decision-making and actions taken by colleagues across the Group.

In 2025, we were included on the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) Climate A List, placing Spirax Group among the top 4% of the more than 20,000 companies assessed. More recently, in 2026 we received a bronze award in the Reducing Environmental Impact category of Britain’s Most Admired Companies.

In turn, we recognise the value of our partnerships, memberships and external validation.

We continue to report through CDP. We are also members of the United Nations Global Compact and align our sustainability focus areas with the UN Sustainability Development Goals.

EcoVadis is a global platform that provides sustainability and ESG ratings by evaluating companies on how responsibly they operate across their own operations as well as across their supply chains. Our EcoVadis ratings in our Businesses are instrumental in helping our customers and other key stakeholders to assess our sustainability performance and supports our competitive position for customer qualification and tendering opportunities.

Ratings used by investors, including CDP, MSCI and Sustainalytics, provide further external reference points on ESG performance.

Customer recognition, including supplier sustainability awards, also reflects the strength of our partnerships and the practical value our approach can create across the value chain.

“External rankings and recognition are a goal, but they matter mainly because they provide independent validation of the progress we are making through One Planet. They reflect the discipline of our ESG approach, the consistency of our focus and the commitment of colleagues across Spirax Group to keep embedding sustainability into how we operate, how we innovate and how we create long-term value.”
