Our journey to net zero
How working together helped us cut carbon emissions by 62%
Making progress towards net zero is not about one project or one team. It is about how we work together across Spirax Group to embed more sustainable ways of operating every day.
By the end of 2025, we had reduced our scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions by 62% against our 2019 baseline. That means we not only exceeded our target of a 50% reduction, but also reached an important milestone on our journey to net zero for scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030.
This progress reflects the collective effort of colleagues across our businesses, functions and sites. Together, we have turned ambition into action by changing how we manage energy, source electricity, modernise our sites and make lower carbon choices in day-to-day operations. It is also a strong example of what we mean by Embedding Sustainable Operations, one of the focus areas in our refreshed One Planet Roadmap.
Turning ambition into action
Since launching One Planet, we have taken a practical, data-led approach to reducing emissions across our operations. That means combining Group-wide direction with local action, so colleagues can identify opportunities, share ideas and scale what works.
This has included increasing renewable electricity procurement, strengthening energy management, delivering onsite decarbonisation projects and making it easier for colleagues to choose lower carbon travel options. These actions may look different from site to site, but together they are helping us build a more consistent and sustainable way of operating.
What this looks like in practice
Renewable electricity has played an important role in reducing our emissions. Across the Group, more than 40 renewable electricity contracts are now live, and by the end of 2025, 89% of our electricity use was procured as renewable electricity.
We have also expanded onsite solar generation at several locations, including a recent installation at our WMFTS Falmouth site.
Making strong progress, globally
We have also made strong progress in energy management. Today, 31 manufacturing sites are connected to our energy management system, giving colleagues better visibility of performance and helping them identify opportunities to reduce energy use. This data-led approach has supported more than 200 energy efficiency projects across the Group and helped us achieve a 20% absolute reduction in energy use since One Planet was launched.
This has included onsite decarbonisation projects that remove fossil fuels from our operations. In 2025, our WMFTS Aflex Hose facility completed a project that eliminated natural gas use at the site, showing how local action can contribute to Group-wide progress.
In parallel, colleagues across the Group have helped us make progress on lower carbon travel. We created a clear EV transition roadmap, introduced a low carbon travel policy and designed a cleaner-by-default approach that makes electric vehicles the standard option where they meet operational needs. As a result, 25% of our fleet is now EV, 18% hybrid and 7% biofuel, meaning nearly half of our road fleet has moved to lower carbon travel methods.

Embedding Sustainable Operations across Spirax Group
Reducing our scope 1 and 2 emissions by 62% during our first phase of One Planet shows what is possible when we work together with a shared goal. It also shows that sustainability is becoming more embedded in how we operate across the Group.
That is why Embedding Sustainable Operations is such an important part of our refreshed One Planet Roadmap. It reflects our belief that long-term progress depends not only on targets and projects, but on building sustainability into our decisions, processes and behaviours across the business.
This matters not only for our own operations, but for how we support our customers too. By embedding more sustainable ways of working across Spirax Group, we are strengthening the credibility, capability and mindset we bring to helping customers advance their own sustainability journeys.
It means we are not only talking about how our solutions can support more efficient and sustainable operations, but we’re also putting them into practice ourselves.
The progress we have made so far is the result of colleagues across Spirax Group working together to make change happen. By embedding more sustainable operations into the way we work every day, we are making meaningful progress on our journey to net zero and helping create the conditions to support our customers as they work towards their own goals.
